Ponderosa Pine Cones

Sturdy, lightweight and noted for their distinctive symmetrical "pineapple" shape, Ponderosa Pine Cones are the most popular cone for decorating and crafting. It was the first cone offered by Oregon Holiday Products, and remains our favorite. 

Ponderosa Pine cones range in color from a golden brown to a rich chocolate. Each scale of the Ponderosa Pine Cone is tipped with a small sharp prickle, giving it the name “Prickly Ponderosa”.

The Ponderosa Pine (Pinus Ponderosa) is the most widely distributed tree in the West. It typically grows on semi-arid plateaus and slopes, often surrounded by juniper and sage. Mature Ponderosa Pines are easy to identify by their orange-brown bark, which look like gigantic jigsaw puzzle pieces and gives off the scent of vanilla when warmed by the sun.
