Three Simple Steps

This looks hard, but by using a grapevine base, if you can twist wire, you can make this wreath in just about an hour. For less than $15 in materials, you will have a wreath that you would pay five times that amount for in a florest shop.

Step 1: Gather some basic materials

You will need just five things:

  1. One or two bags of Ponderosa Pine Cones (depending on the size of wreath you want)
  2. A Grapevine wreath
  3. Craft wire
  4. Wire cutter or bad Scissors (you don't want to use your good sisors for this)
  5. About 1 hour of your time

Step 2: Wire the cones

This is really the only hard step.

Wrap the wire around one cone leaving about 8 inches of wire on each end. Position the cone and then tie the wire around the wreath, twisting the wire together in the back.  When adding cones, start with the largest, and save out a few of the smallest for the end.

It works best to wrap the wire around the whole vine wreath, and using brown wire keeps it from showing. Just group the cones closely together.  Just repeat until the wreath is full.

Step 3: Fill any gaps

Really, you were done in step two. all you have to do is see ff you have some gaps and fill them with the small cones you saved out. You can also add bows, greens or ornaments so the wreath matches the rest of your holiday decor. Don't forget to add a wire loop in the back and hang your cone masterpiece with pride.
